History
Jones the Butcher (Jones Bros) of Lampeter is a long established (trading since the 1940's), well known and respected business located in the market town of Lampeter, West Wales. Our reputation is based on exceptional product quality, customer care and value for money.
Passion
We are passionate about the meat business and we place huge importance upon quality and traditional butchery. We have a small hands-on team who are very experienced and dedicated to their work. Meat is hung on the bone for up to three weeks in the traditional way.
We are different
Our shop, both in-store and online is very different to your average butchers as we specialise in our own home-bred Pedigree Welsh Black Beef and Welsh Hill Lamb reared on our own farms on the outskirts of Lampeter. This means that we know exactly where our meat comes from, which in turn enables us to exercise full control of animal welfare and diet. Furthermore, food miles are kept to a bare minimum as all of our beef, lamb and poultry/chicken are bred and farmed in Wales.
Awards
We only use the finest ingredients in our homemade sausages and burgers. We have won many Gold Awards in competitions across Wales. We aim to cater for all and are happy to supply the following gluten-free sausages and burgers: Homemade Pork Sausages with Herbs and Garlic, Homemade Beef Burgers with Onion and Herbs. Our farms are under Organic conversion but our meat will not cost you more
Furthermore, we are a member of the Welsh Black Cattle Society, and breed Pedigree Welsh Black cattle on our farms. Each animal has a Welsh Black Pedigree Certificate which allows us to trace back through the animal's family tree of Pedigrees.
We believe that if we look after our animals we can supply you with meat of the highest possible quality. We have a total of around 1000 breeding ewes and 100 cattle grazing on 900 acres and are thus able to ensure that we can provide a constant supply of meat to our shop. Our farmland around Lampeter provides excellent grazing which is reflected in the flavour and quality of our meat.
We are part of the Tir Gofal scheme (Care of the Land) which commits us to the highest possible environmental standards and we are currently in the conversion process whereby we will be able to produce on a fully Organic basis by 2009. However, our meat will not be more expensive, we are producing this way to give you the best possible quality.
